作者・百鬼丸氏は、1980年に切り絵画家としてデビュー、以来、現在まで、約700冊の単行本、文庫本等のカバー画を担当しています。そして、最近では、立体切り絵や等身大切り絵を発表して話題を集めています。

Hyakkimaru, the artist, debuted as a cutout designer in 1980. So far, Hyakkimaru has handled over 700 cutouts for the covers of independent books, magazines, and libraries. Recently, he has attracted much attention by presenting 3D cutouts or life- size cutouts.
“Japanese cutout: The Samurai” presents both 2D and 3D cutouts of Shingen Takeda--, Japanese representative warrior-- and his 24 retainer samurai. In included video, you can see the process of cutout making. Please enjoy the extraordinary technique and the explosive impact of the works.

百鬼丸(ひゃっきまる)
1951年、山梨県生まれ。東洋大学工学部建築学科卒。いくつかの職業を経て、1977年に愛知県常滑にて切り絵を始める。早乙女貢・著『おけい』(文春文庫)で初の書籍カバー画を作成。現在までに700冊以上の単行本・雑誌・文庫本等のカバー画を担当。日本を代表する切り絵作家として活躍している。

Hyakkimaru
Hyakkimaru was born in 1951 in Yamanashi prefecture. He graduated from the department of architecture in the School of Engineering at the University of Toyo. After gaining job experience, Hyakkimaru started cutout art in Tokoname, Aichi prefecture in 1977. His first piece was a book cover for Okei, which was written by Mitsugu Saotome (Bunsyun library). So far Hyakkimaru has handled over 700 cutouts for the covers of independent books, magazines, and libraries. He is active as a cutout designer who represents Japan worldwide.
